Models Own Summer Neon nails tutorial

Friday 10 May 2013
Last week, it was all about our Art Deco nails. This week, it's about this year's trends. Summer should be all about bright colours. Neon though, is something else. Children of the early 90s will remember the horrors of polyester shell suits (stay away from naked flames) and shag bands. It's a scar on the minds of many.

So. If you're not a fan of neon skirts and bright blouses, you can still be bang on trend this year with these eye-popping talons.

You'll need:
Models Own Bubblegum varnish
Models Own Toxic Apple varnish
Models Own Luis Lemon varnish
Models Own Pink Punch varnish
Models Own Pukka Purple varnish
3-in-1 Base Coat/Top Coat/Gloss
Scotch Magic Tape
Scissors
Clean up brush

Apply a base coat and leave to dry.

Prepare some triangular shaped pieces of Scotch Magic Tape using a sharp pair of scissors. Rest the edge of the pieces of tape on the edge of a clean object so they can be easily picked up later.

Apply the lightest neon colour you have to the whole nail and leave to dry. When the polish is dry, apply one of the triangular pieces of tape to the nail, leaving a section of the nail exposed. Paint the nail, with your second colour, covering the unmasked area. Remove the tape and leave until touch dry.

When each colour is dry, repeat  for each neon colour on each nail.

If necessary, dip a small make up brush into acetone and use this to clean up around the nail to create clean smooth lines.
